Day Trip to David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage Giraffe Center and Karen Blixen Museum

Spend the day visiting the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphaned Trust a Haven for baby Elephants and Rhinos and the Giraffe Center, home to the Rothschild giraffe. We will also be able to take you to the Karen Blixen Museum dedicated to the writer of the book "Out of Africa You’ll learn the story of this amazing woman and how she changed the lives of the local people.

Day tour itinerary

The tour will begin with pick up from the hotel or home within Nairobi. Then drive to David Sheldrick Elephant Orphaned Trust; it is strictly open between 11 am and 12 noon. Here they rehabilitates baby elephants and rhino. These babies have lost their mothers to poaching, death, injuries, on getting lost in the wild or other tragedies. Learn how Daphne and her dedicated staff raise the elephants and the process of releasing them back into the wild when they are ready. During your visit, you will understand the humanitarian efforts, dedication and heart put into this endeavor.

You will then be driven to the Giraffe Centre. The Center is a non-profit organization founded by Betty and Jock Leslie-Melville in 1979. Situated in Langata, just 20 km outside Nairobi City Center, the Center is dedicated to educating the Kenyan youth in conservation of the environment and the preservation of endangered wildlife and their habitats. The Center is home to endangered Rothschild giraffes where you will learn more about the conversation efforts to conserve this endangered species and also get to feed them and take selfies with the Giant animals.

Afterwards drive you to The Karen Blixen Museum. A famous white settler story, depicted in the famous movie Out of Africa. You’ll learn the story of this amazing woman and how she changed the lives of the local people.

Later driven for optional late lunch and then drop off at your hotel or home in Nairobi.
